Key issues: The Pannon Business Initiative (PBI) is a Hungarian model program for regionally integrated economic development. The Initiative establishes co-operation partnership between regional development and economic development organizations, while supports the implementation of the „enterprise innovation” priority of the regional development program, and creates a framework for a network-based economic development in West-Transdanubia.
Pannon Automotive Cluster (PANAC) and Pannon Wood and Furniture Cluster (PANFA) are the most developed two clusters in Hungary, both are operating under the PBI umbrella.
PANAC was established in 2000. By now it operates as a national cluster for the automotive industry, and has 67 member companies.
PANFA established in 2001, operates more as a regional industrial cluster for the industry based on the local wood resources, has 74 partner companies.
