CITY
Göteborg (Gothenburg) is Sweden's second largest city. It was originally built by Dutch immigrants and was granted city status in 1621. The city is located at the mouth of the Göta river on the West Coast of southern Sweden and is blessed with a beautiful archipelago, as well as "Liseberg", the largest amusement park in Scandinavia and the newly opened "Universeum", Sweden's national science discovery centre. RESTAURANTS
Some of the most famous Swedish chefs are to be found in Gothenburg, and here is where you will find the highest number of first class restaurants per capita in the whole of Scandinavia. The main culinary attraction is the local seafood; prawns, lobsters and a wide selection of fish, ranked amongst the finest in the world.

PLACES TO VISIT
Liseberg was founded in 1923 and is the largest amusement park in Scandinavia. One of the most popular if its attractions is the Lisebergsbanan, a 1400-meter long roller-coaster. The Konsthallen Art Museum houses various exhibitions of contemporary art. Gothenburg Maritime Museum gives visitors the opportunity to take tours around fifteen different ships ranging from Steam boats to war ships. The Elfsborg Fortress (Elfsborg Fästning) is situated near to the entrance of the harbour on a small island. It was built towards the end of the 17th century and for a long time was the crucial part in Gothenburgs defence against the Danes. The Opera House was opened in 1994 and is one of the world's most modern opera houses. TRANSPORTATION
Gothenburg has a very well developed public transport system comprised of numerous buses, 9 tramlines and regional trains, which offer excellent connections within the city and also with the wider region. The Gothenburg's City Pass, available from all tobacconists allows unlimited use of the city's excellent tram and bus system. You can also buy your ticket directly on the bus or tram. Airport - Gothenburg City Centre
Buses run every 20 minutes between the airport and Gothenburg Central Station. The trip takes 35 minutes. The fare is approximately SEK 60. A taxi fare between the airport and the City Centre is approximately SEK 300 and to Quality Hotel 11 approx. SEK 450. Please use one of the following taxi companies: Taxi Göteborg, VIP taxi or Taxi Kurir.

Gothenburg City Centre - Eriksbergshallen
A ferry (Älvsnabben) also departs Lilla Bommen, Järntorget and Klippan, stopping just outside Hotel 11 and Eriksbergshallen. Bus number 16 leaves from the city centre. The bus stop is called Eriksberg Krokäng. A one way-ticket costs SEK 16 per person.

CURRENCY & CREDIT CARDS
The currency in Sweden is the Swedish krona, SEK. Major credit cards are accepted in hotels, restaurants and shops. WEATHER & DRESS
Gothenburg has a maritime climate, which means that the weather is temperate, no extreme heat or cold. In September the weather is usually pleasant and mild during the daytime and chilly in the evenings. A coat or raincoat, and maybe also some woollens are advised. VOLTAGE
Electricity in Sweden is 220 volt current. Plugs have two round pins.

TIPPING
Service charges are always included and extra gratuities are not necessary unless you wish to show your appreciation for a good meal or special service.
